Multiplication Fact Fluency- HELP NEEDED!

It's time to start putting our multiplication facts to memory!  We are looking for parent volunteers that could come in during our Math Bear Time 11:45-12:05 to practice multiplication facts with our students.  Any day that you are available to come in during the week is appreciated.  Please reach out to your child's teacher if you are able to help on any of these days!  Mrs. Bacolor: cbacolor@sjschools.org, Mrs. Ettinger: aettinger@sjschools.org, or Mrs. Peek: gpeek@sjschools.org.

In addition, we highly recommend getting a set of multiplication/division flash cards for home so your child can practice those facts regularly. If you have questions or need some help with getting some flash cards for home, please reach out to your child's teacher. Here is the link to the flash cards that we are using at school.

Math Unit 3 Home Resources

In this unit, students use their understanding of place value to round whole numbers and to add and subtract within 1,000. They also solve two-step problems.

Pajama Day/Read-In Friday

In celebration of the end of the 1st Trimester and all their hard work, we are going to do a READ-IN on Friday! Your child can wear pajamas to school and bring some extra books from home.  They can also bring a pillow or something soft to lay on and an extra healthy snack.

Nutcracker Updates

Save-the-Date

Our third graders will be presenting The Nutcracker for families and friends on Wednesday, December 20th at 5:00. The performance will be held at the SJHS auditorium. No tickets are needed and there is no cost for this event. The first performance is during the day at school as an assembly for the other students. Please make sure your student has their appropriate outfit on or with them for the school day. For the evening performance, please have your student arrive at the St. Joseph High School auditorium doors at 4:30 p.m. with their appropriate outfit on. We will be offering bus transportation to the high school for any student that needs that. If your student needs bus transportation, please let your student's classroom teacher know. There will be signs and adults to tell students and parents where to go. Once your student has found the right place, you may find a seat in the auditorium. The Lincoln performance will begin at 5:00 p.m. This performance is open to the public, so please invite anyone you’d like to come! This information and more, including costumes, practice videos, and the script, can be found at this website: https://sites.google.com/sjschools.org/lincoln-nutcracker

If you have any questions about the performance, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Mileham (amileham@sjschools.org).

Cold Weather

Now that we are getting into colder weather patterns, please check the weather so that your child has the necessary clothing--boots (when there is snow on the ground), hats, coats, and gloves/mittens--to be going out for recess.  We do go out most days unless it is raining or below zero wind chills!

Healthy Snacks

We have snack time daily right after our morning recess. Lately more and more students are beginning to bring in snacks that are not healthy choices. Please do not send potato chips, Doritos, cookies, etc. as a snack. Healthier options include: crackers, cheese, fruit/veggies, fruit bars, granola bars, etc. Please remember that Mrs. Peek's class is a peanut-free classroom. We appreciate your help with this!
